A GPS (or a map for you old schoolers)

John 16:13
I went out for the afternoon to an area of Saguaro National Park that I haven't been to in ages and have to say how helpful it is that they give you a map to guide your visit. The desert isn't exactly a place you want to trek off into without having some details. Likewise its a big help that Jesus didn't take off and leave us to make it through life on our own, he left us with the Holy Spirit. Between the Spirit and the Bible, God has provided us an excellent guidance system for our stay on earth. Most people get into trouble traveling because they missed something on their map or GPS or didn't consult them. The same can be said for people who try to run their own life, choosing not to use the tools God has provided to aid us in living the best life possible. As Christians we must be in tune with the promptings of the Spirit and continually be studying the Bible so we can stay on the straight and narrow. Part of the job of the Spirit is that of guide who nudges us helping us stay on course, but we must be attentive to that inner voice or it won't matter. He brings to us what he has heard from the Lord to help us along the way. "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. (John 16:13-14 NLT)." The Spirit allows for Christ to dwell in us and for us to be one in the body of Christ. It may not be easy for us to grasp the truth or fully understand but we must trust that God is at work in us through the Spirit and that the triune God is part of us and we are a part of it. Pray that God will continue to reveal the truth to you and that he will accomplish his work in you.
